Efteling Costume Sketches

These are a selection of sketches drawn at Efteling in The Netherlands. They show a variety of characters such as Klaas Vaak and De SprookjesSprokkelaar. I draw a lot of inspiration from Efteling as I love conveying a story through costume. These characters are beautiful examples of fairytales come to life!

Musician's 2-Piece Set
This is a commissioned set for a musician, which can be worn separately or together and included a top with a star cut out and laced back, and a pair of trousers with a unique front flap. The design, cut and construction is all my own work and created in accordance with the client’s style and images shared with me. Made from black denim and modelled by Luca Howe and Jess Sharp.

1950's "Margaret" Gown

The emerald silk dress was commissioned for the dancer pictured (Margaret) for a 1940s ball. The concept was inspired by ‘Mrs Harris Goes to Paris’ in accordance with the client’s vision board, and the cut and construction was developed by myself.

Chalcedony - The Saviour
Based on a poem about Chalcedony from Pablo Neruda’s ‘Stones of the Sky’, this was designed to reflect the exploitation of crystal miners and the idea of the ‘white saviour’ from media and culture such as ‘Metropolis’ (Fritz Lang) and the story of Santa Rosalia in Sicilia. The final costume was made using zero waste techniques, natural dyes, and hand sculpted crystals. Modelled by Jess Gibson.
