For one of my two final year projects, I interpreted Emanuele Luzzati's 1963 costume design for Tamino from the opera "The Magic Flute". I used a theatrical construction methods to allow for simple alterations should there be a cast change. The costume was focused heavily on the embroidered embellishments, depicting astrological symbols that connect to the story of The Magic Flute; and the block print which covers much of the costume. I wanted this bold enough to translate to a theatre audience, but with enough nuance to keep it matching the whimsy of the original production.
